Tapawera, from the maori language 'Tapa' (forest edge) and 'wera' (hot/burnt) is a relatively small but well serviced town in rural Tasman district with a population of approximately 600 in the town and surrounding area.

To clear some confusion, currently they are testing the tower - so it is possible that it may go off a few times. Also, the coverage is only Telecom and skinny (skinny runs on the same line). Vodafone and 2 degrees will not receive coverage for some time.
