ORIGINAL STONE STRUCTURE circa 1900-1910                   -                      CURRENT EMBLEM TEMPLATE recreated 2013

Many service personnel periodically trained here beneath the original stone emblem from around 1900.  Todays recreation as presented by Maurice Taylor and the Tapawera and Valley Historical Society is currently in the form of wooden templates which will be replaced by stones.

Huge thanks for the consent from Doug Hill, and David Cooper who farms the site, Lloyd Faulkner for starting it all off, and of course Maurice who has resolutely persued this wonderful recreation of an important part of Tapawera's local history.  Much gratitude is also given to ITM Motueka for the wood, the Tapawera Area School for use of their facilities, Roger Bint, John Coote and others for their contributions.
